Announcing: Medfield Public Schools is hosting its 3rd Annual Digital Learning Day Conference on Friday, February 6th, 2015 at Medfield High School.
What is Digital Learning Day?
“Digital Learning Day is recognized nationally and was started as a way to actively spread innovative practices and ensure that all youth have access to high-quality digital learning opportunities no matter where they live.
Started in 2012, Digital Learning Day has provided a powerful venue for education leaders to highlight great teaching practice and showcase innovative teachers, leaders, and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes. This grassroots effort blossomed into a massive nationwide celebration as teachers realized that Digital Learning Day is not about technology, it’s about learning. It’s not about laying off teachers for laptops, it’s about enhancing the role of the teacher in America’s classrooms. Digital Learning Day promotes the effective use of modern day tools afforded to every other industry to improve the learning experience in K-12 public schools.”
This year the official day is March 13th!
Every first Friday in February, Medfield Public Schools has a teacher-only day to provide district-wide professional development. What a perfect time to celebrate and promote Digital Learning than using the entire day for teachers who have received technology-focused courses and training by the district to “pay it forward”. And...there’s so much power behind teachers teaching teachers.
The day has evolved into our own DLD conference day, with over 60 proposed workshops created and led by k-12 teachers for k-12 teachers. Each year we also base improvements on your feedback and also try to involve more and more students in different capacities, whether it’s greeting you at the door, providing technology support in a workshop, or even leading a workshop! After all, it’s all for our students! Even better..we are now opening our doors to any out-of-district educators to share in our learning, make connections and build relationships!
Come join Medfield educators for a free, full day of professional development with over 60 workshops involving technology integration of iPads (1:1, shared & one iPad models) and Google Apps for Education, discussion panels, special Out-of-District guest presenters, and keynote speaker, Greg Kulowiec from EdTechTeacher!
